Dear Principal,

Notice of AGM Meeting, Thursday, 21st May, 2015

The Department of Fair Trading requires Associations such as ACSP to give 21 days notice of their Annual AGM.  The ACSP AGM will take place on Thursday, 21st May, from 2.45 p.m. to 3.15 p.m. The Department of Fair Trading allowed us to change our accounting period from a Financial Year (July to June) to a much more user friendly Calendar Year to better coincide with School routines.  We will present the Audit of an 18 month period, from July, 2013 to December 2014.  Future Audits will then revert to a 12 month year.

As the last Conference took place in May, the AGM took place at the Conference before the Audit was prepared.  We have been asked by Fair Trading to present the 2011-2012 Audit as well, at this AGM, to ensure regularity in process.

                                     Nominations for the ACSP Executive

Nominations are now open for the following positions on the ACSP executive as a result of retirements. Nominations will close on Wednesday 6th May to allow time for voting if necessary.  We ask you to circulate this information to the Principals in your Associations and to note  closing date


Primary Principal from a Country Diocese, with less than 40 schools:  Dioceses with these numbers include:  Armidale (24); Bathurst (34); Canberra Goulburn (27 in NSW); Wagga Wagga (32); Wilcannia-Forbes (19).

A  Primary Principal from a Country Diocese with more than 40 Schools:  Dioceses with these numbers include:  Lismore (47); Maitland-Newcastle (56 Schools); Wollongong (45).

Primary Principal from a Metropolitan Diocese which includes Sydney (171); Parramatta (83) and Broken Bay (53)

Secondary Principal from a Metropolitan Diocese which includes Sydney (171); Parramatta (83) and Broken Bay (53).

If people are aware of suitable people for these roles, then simply ask them would they accept nomination and if they agree, forward their nomination.  We need the right people to represent us and often the best people don't like being presumptuous enough to put themselves forward.

                 The May Conference in Dubbo, 20th May to 22nd May

ACSP have been deeply grateful for so many of the CEO/CSO Directors supporting Principals in attending this Conference.  With less than four weeks to go, we urge you all not to leave it to the last minute.  These four Speakers we believe are the best Speakers ever assembled at one Conference.  The methodology of following each of their Keynote Sessions with Breakout Sessions led by each of the Speakers, makes it more like a "Master Class" experience than a typical Conference.  The speakers have linked with one another and the organisers by video link and are working to present a cohesive and integrated approach.

click here).  In addition, I enclose the program for the Conference, so that you can reflect on the various themes they will present. (click here).

We urge you to take this valuable time to help update your ideas in education. We are being constantly told that as Principals we have to be "Leaders of Learning".  I can guarantee that the approach of one, two or all three Curriculum Speakers will be amongst the best Professional Development you will ever experience

                    Accommodation in Dubbo at Quest Apartments

Initially, the Conference organisers held over rooms in the Quest Apartments, which are very high quality, at reasonable rates, to ensure that the Speakers, Directors, Guests and others we needed to accommodate had appropriate lodging.
 
The Quest Apartments have now been released, so if finding accommodation was your problem, please contact Steven at
02 5809 8600 and he should be able to accommodate you.

There are Studio Rooms, 1 Bedroom Balcony Apartments ( a few left), 2 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Apartments (great value, if you have a compatible companion-share the cost!), and a few 3 Bedroom, 2 Bathroom Apartments (cheaper again.)

                                                            Conclusion
I have deliberately kept other items out of this Newsletter, to focus on some really important issues associated with the Conference, the AGM and Nominations for Executive Members.

One other piece of information is that Invoices will be posted out soon.  Sincere thanks are due to the 7 Diocesan Principals' Associations who have agreed to pay in bulk.  With 590 schools, 422 Primary, 27 Mixed Primary and Secondary, and 137 Secondary and 4 Special Schools, that is an awfully large number of Invoices to prepare and post.  The number of individual Invoices has dropped to about 200 now, much easier to deal with.
