I hope you have had a great term and that you were able to have an enjoyable and relaxing Easter break, taking in the Easter Liturgies and enjoying time with family and friends                                                           

At a recent ACPPA meeting we shared two prayer reflections on the Year of Mercy. I have included these prayer reflections for you to use with staff if you wish. 

Minister has heard non-government school funding concerns ‘loud and clear’
Minister for Education and Training Senator Simon Birmingham has told non-government education leaders that he is committed to working with them to address concerns about how schools are funded in 2018 and beyond. READ MORE

Minister launches new website to support VET
The Turnbull Government has launched a new website and online assessment tool aimed at helping principals, teachers and trainers provide industry-relevant courses for vocational education training students in secondary school. READ MORE

Sydney Catholic school principals speak out against detention of children
Principals of Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Sydney have issued a joint statement calling for an end to the keeping of children in mandatory detention and issued a plea for the children’s immediate release READ MORE


School Law Conference on Tuesday 7 June in Sydney
This seminar covers topics such as identifying and defeating social media cyber-bullying, disciplinary options for deceptive staff members, WHS responsibilities when contractors are involved and governance challenges to highlight a few. I have attached the program for your reference. Read More

Minister for Education Adrian Piccoli has commissioned a review of the Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards (BOSTES).
Please visit http://www.bostesreview.nsw.edu.au  for information on how to contribute.  An issues paper is currently being drafted to highlight some areas on which you may wish to comment. This will be released on the BOSTES Review website on 31 March 2016. Written submissions will close on 21 April 2016.
Submissions (attached as a Word file or PDF) can be emailed to bostes.review@det.nsw.edu.au. Please mark your submission “confidential” if you do not want it to be published.
