Welcome to the new President and Executive of ACSP

The newly appointed ACSP Executive took up office from the commencement of term 3, 2012 and will be having their first official meeting on Wednesday 8th August, 2012.

Maria Pearson, Principal of Mount St Benedict College in Pennant Hills, Sydney and the ACSP Congregational representative on the ACSP Executive has been appointed President of ACSP consistent with the accepted practice of the Presidency alternating between primary and secondary representatives on the executive.

11th World Convention of the International Confederation of Principals 1 – 4 July 2013

The 11th World Convention of the International Confederation of Principals (ICP 2013) will take place in Cairns, Australia, from 1 to 4 July 2013.

The Convention will be one of the premier events of 2013, expected to attract over 1500 leaders in the education sector including primary, secondary, Catholic and independent school principals and administrators from across the globe.

Release of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Action Plan

The Minister for School Education, Peter Garrett, visited Penders Grove Primary School in Victoria to launch the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Action Plan 2011- 2014.

It is hoped the Action Plan will help schools to accelerate the achievement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. By providing for specific targets across all governments, the Plan is a direct pathway to closing the gap for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people in the early childhood and school education sectors.

Developed by the Ministerial Council for Education, Early Childhood Development and Youth Affairs, under the Plan governments have agreed to use available resources to contribute to halving the gap in English literacy and numeracy and Year 12 or equivalent attainment.
