Through our national and international speakers, we will explore Pope Francis’ challenge from Laudato Si, Care for Our Common Home, paragraph 215;

“Our efforts at education will be inadequate and ineffectual unless we strive to promote a new way of thinking about human beings, life, society and our relationship with nature.”

We, the NSW Catholic school principals who gathered together in Dubbo in May 2015 under the theme “Encounter New Horizons,” and who are inspired by Pope Francis’ call to be audacious and bold in our mission as educators, commit to the promotion of a new way of thinking about human beings, life, society and our relationship with nature.”

This is a ‘New Horizon’ and we take on the challenge of extending the focus of the conference from new horizons in ‘how’ we educate to new ways of thinking about ‘why’ we educate. It is apparent Francis is challenging us to have a deeper understanding of this and our conference must still remain grounded by incorporating something of the ‘how’ into the ‘why.’ We can see this as the development of a deeper sense of purpose, with the concurrent need to develop better practise to support this.

We are offering varying learning experiences to ignite thought and discussion. With our impressive line-up of confirmed speakers below and with more international speakers to be confirmed early in 2017, the ACSP Conferenceis a not to be missed.
